North Queensland Cowboys NRL coach Sacked

NRL team the North Queensland Cowboys have sacked first grade coach Graham Murray after months of speculation surrounding the long term Rugby League coach in the northern Queensland region.

A successful, long term coach - speculation suggests that Murray had fallen out with the senior group of players; many believing the likes of Carl Webb, Jonathan Thurston and other prominent players were unhappy with the nature and approach of Murray to weekly NRL showdowns.

The laid back Murray apparently had the same effect on the NSW Origin Team, taking over from Ricky Stuart in 2006 and subsequently losing the next 2 series' as Queensland romped to victory to hammer the future hopes of the NSW side.

Murray is keen to continue living in North Queensland, and it seems at this stage the chances of coaching again at the highest level may elude the veteran clipboard man as the competitive nature of NRL coaching continues to play out in recent times.
